We are often asked how we work. Here are nutshell notes for startups enquiring about the workflow for setting up a new brand with Brand Spanking. Please do get in touch if you would like to receive our startup fees.
How do we work?
We can work remotely, meet on the phone, email or Skype, or you are welcome to come in for a meeting where we explore your branding requirements.
We need to discuss and understand; who you are, who you want to be, who your target market are, your competition and define where you would like to be within the market – your positioning.
We then get to work on your USPs – what makes you unique – what makes you different and what differentiates you within your market.
Tone of Voice
When you speak, how do you speak to your audience and what languages do you use?
We work on mood boards and inspiration in order to define a brief for the graphic design work to begin.
We normally begin with the logo, with a clear brief, 2 rounds of design is usually sufficient.
Often much of the brand visual work is defined as a result of the website design and we produce the branding styles and website design in conjunction with each other.
Website work flows as follows:
Site map and functional requirements
Wireframes drawn up
Design of home page – once the home page is signed off we begin on the other pages.
Design of other pages based on the home page design.
SEO if necessary.
This is where we define the visual and linguistic branding rules – colours, fonts etc.
Text for the brand, including the website, if required can be written by our copywriters.
First we collate with you the general structure and messaging.
Then we write the copy.
Then we pass to advertising copywriters if you want something exceptionally punchy.
We can create moodboards of imagery, plan and direct a photoshoot if required to tell your brand message.
Please let us know if you require more info about printed items, brochures, packaging, stationery, business cards.
1-2 months for full brand and web design and build. 1 month is a crazy schedule, 2 months much more realistic.
